BIO

Jeffrey Cobbold is an independent artist and researcher from Piscataway, New Jersey. His interdisciplinary work in contemporary art demonstrates various modes of experimentation and conceptualization regarding the deconstruction of his personal identity and Christian faith. At the center of this work is a passion for music listening, particularly to song lyrics, which bring inspiration to his creative process. His work has been exhibited in divergent arts & humanities contexts within the United States, Spain and United Kingdom.

ARTISTIC RESEARCH STATEMENT

The intention of my artistic research is to pursue deeper understandings of my personal autobiographical elements and to share these understandings within exhibitions and workshops, offering a potential catalyst for self-actualization to those who may encounter my work. Through these experiences I hope to bring others closer to their own unique experimentations and conceptualizations of themselves for creative use in their everyday lives. The mediums for my artistic research include but are not limited to experimental music, sound, video, visualizations, personal studies and formal texts, demonstrating a unique blend of appropriated methods taken from music education, practical theology, digital storytelling and the digital humanities.
