A Cacophony of Unrequited Love
Below are impressions of A Cacophony of Unrequited Love, an ongoing artistic research project I began in 2014 about my personal study of unrequited love through sound, text and image.
This long form sound poem “Ms. Disinterested (pt.2)” comes from my debut solo album Crave No More (2010) and was the inspiration for A Cacophony of Unrequited Love. The sound poem features poetry written by myself and Sara, a guest poet and vocal performer. My character represents the perspective of a male seeker of love as she represents a disinterested female.
Demo audio from 2014 made from excerpts of ”Ms. Disinterested (pt.2)”. All excerpts taken from Sara’s poetic text and vocal performance.
Studio recording of A Cacophony of Unrequited Love from 2016. Vocal performance by Danielle.
This group performance of A Cacophony of Unrequited Love occurred in Spring 2015 during my teaching demonstration within a graduate performance pedagogy course at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain. At the end of the performance I offer a brief explanation of this work related to my view of the role of music and art within the humanities.
